"Chakana" Statement Necklace

"Chakana" Statement Necklace

160.00

An homage to my time in South America, this Bronzite stone comes loaded with macrame love. Each side contains a “panel” of the Chakana, or Inca Cross. A symbol of the ancient cultures of the Andes, the Chakana is said to be the most complete, holy, geometric design of the Incas. Traditionally, the Chakana represents the constellation of the Southern Cross (seen in the skies of the Southern Hemisphere). Its name is based on the Quechuan word “chakay” which means “to cross’ or “to bridge”. Each side and level has meaning—signifying past/present/future/heaven/earth, underworld, peace/ war/intelligence, and the condor/cougar/snake. The center hole represents Cusco, the Incan capital thought to be the center of the universe. Necklace has an adjustable slide and can be worn from 14” to 30”
